Nancy Valen was raised in Hallandale, Florida. By age 12, she was traveling to New York City do modeling during her Summers. She attended a Performing Arts High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Although she had a theatrical scholarship to attend the University of Florida, she passed in favor of attending Broward College so that she could continue her professional career in Miami. Here, she studied theatre and paid for her tuition by modeling and acting.

Her credits include, 'The Heavenly Kid' (Orion Pictures), 'Porky's Revenge' (FOX) and two guest spots on the NBC cop drama series 'Miami Vice.' After College, Nancy went on to New York to pursue her theatrical career and within one month got to work as a regular on the daytime soap, 'Ryan's Hope.' She got to work with Yasmine Bleeth. Nancy stayed with the role for two years before she moved to West Los Angeles.

When she went on to read successfully for 'Baywatch,' Nancy consulted her best friend Yasmine Bleeth (who portrayed Caroline Holden) after securing the role of Captain Samantha Thomas, a romantic interest for Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff). Yasmine told her to get herself in great shape, as the role was very physical and demanding. 'Loverboy' with Patrick Dempsey and 'Seven Sundays' with Molly Ringwald and Rod Steiger. She had a grand television role as a sexy English teacher that sang and danced in NBC's musical series 'Hull High.' During her season with 'Baywatch,' she also worked on her play 'How to go on a Date in Queens' during that Summer.
