As one of identical twins, Alexandra Paul was born in New York City, New York. Alexandra grew up on her family's farm in New England. Her Father was a banker, so they never had to worry about money. She and her twin sister Caroline has a very close, bonding relationship. Alexandra grew up wanting to be an environmentalist and just happen to fall into acting when she was modeling. Alexandra went to the Groton Academy in Groton, Massachusetts. As an athletic child, she enjoyed swimming and horseback riding. Acting, environmental issues and her athletic ability would all play an important part later in her career.

Alexandra began modeling in New York City when she was 16 years old with Wilhamena. She graduated with honors from the Groton Academy, very fluent in French and well read. Her agency wanted to send her out to audition for soaps, so she had to take acting classes. Alexandra had planned to go to college in a year, but she loved and chose to stick with acting. She got her start on National TV in a leading role when sent out to audition for ABC's TV movie 'Paper Dolls' (with Daryll Hannah) in 1982 at 18 and got the part portraying a 16 year-old model. It was one the most highest-rated movies of the year.

The gifted actress has quite an impressive resume. Alexandra has appeared in over two dozen-feature films and TV movies. Her credits include 'Prey of the Chameleon,' 'Dragnet,' NBC's 'Echo,' 'Eight Million Ways to Die,' 'American Flyer,' 'Christine,' and USA's 'Death Train.'

Alexandra takes her personal interest in social and political issues seriously, speaking to students on global overpopulation and protests about the environment. She has been arrested simply for protesting about safe environmental issues (something that she strongly believes in), on several occasions. Alexandra doesn't drink, like staying out late or parting. Instead, she always tries to find something good to do for the world.

Alexandra recycles, doesn't wear leather or anything from an animal. She is a vegetarian that still eats eggs and dairy products to get the protein she needs because she was bulimic for 11 years. Overcoming the eating disorder was her biggest struggle. She has been fine for 6 years. Alexandra doesn't care too much for accumulating material things. She doesn't spend a lot of money on a lot of clothes. Alexandra drives an electric car instead of one that runs on gas, and doesn't own a TV set. She prefers to read the newspaper or listening to the radio.

Alexandra had an agent and a manager. Judy Cooper, who was Alexandra's manager for 7 years and during her contract with 'Baywatch,' encouraged her to audition for the show because of the European popularity. The exposure would be good for her name value worldwide. No one knew how big the show was going to be at the time.

She was sent on to read for 'Baywatch' and had only one audition. They hired her. The producer had heard that she was a very good swimmer, but actually knew her from a pool that they both swam at. There was a room outside of the auditioning room. She had her twin sister Caroline with her. She looked around at all of the people, who all looked overwhelmingly beautiful to her and said as she looked at Caroline, 'I'm not supposed to be here.' Apparently she was supposed to be there because she landed the job wearing a short suit, not a swimsuit like the others waiting to audition.

She became one of the overwhelming favorites with 'Baywatch' fans and gained international stardom when she skillfully garnered the role of Lieutenant Stephanie Holden for five years. Along with that stardom came opportunities in the way of offers for other roles and endorsements. In her last appearance on the show, 'Chance of a Lifetime' (7th season/1996-1997), her character Lieutenant Stephanie Holden was killed by the mass of a ship called 'Chance of a Lifetime.' It fell and crushed her in the act of saving a young teenaged girl from the tragic fate.

Stephanie's fate did not go over well with fans, as they wanted to see future guest appearances by the tremendously talented actress. Many thought that she was a Lifeguard in real life because of her athletic appearance, and the way she handled her role. After 5 years with the show, Alexandra decided that it was time to move on to do other projects. Alexandra asked the executive produces of the show to kill her character off because she knew that she wouldn't go back. David Hasselhoff realized that she was leaving on good terms. Alexandra and David have developed a close relationship over the 5-year period and are the best of friends. She got her own montage. The montage song was called 'Bless a Brand New Angel.' The beautiful song was written by the incredibly talented duo of Robin and Judithe Randall. The team is no stranger to the show, as they have written several other songs for 'Baywatch.'

Alexandra has appeared on the 1997 July cover of 'Triathlete' magazine. She has appeared on the UPN's talk show 'VIBE' (Pre-Sinbad) with Chris Spenser and ABC's 'Politically Incorrect' on October 29, 1997. She made an appearance on FOX's 'Regis and Kathy Lee' on Monday, December 15, 1997 to discuss the '1997 Ironman Triathlon' that was held in Hawaii on October 18, 1997. She talked about her training and introduced her identical twin sister Caroline, who is a firefighter for the San Francisco fire department, her brother Jonathan and her Dad. Although held in October, it was going to be shown taped on NBC Saturday, December 20, 1997.

The show was shown taped. She did get good profile and placement coverage. In her profile interview Alexandra said that she was on 'Baywatch' for five years (four years as a regular/one year doing five guest appearances) and wanted to go on to do other things. She wanted to make movies and do other projects. Nine months before the competition, she started to train for it. During this time, 'DEP,' 'EZ1,' and 'Bally's Total Fitness' sponsored her so that she would not have to work, and could concentrate on her training. She reasoned that if she could do this triathlon, she could do anything. Alexandra also stated that she had been an actress for fifteen years. She was now an athlete first and an actress second. Since this was Alexandra's very first triathlon, it was very important to her. She wanted to enjoy it as it. This would be the only time in her life that she would get to experience this. It wasn't so important how she placed. She did finish. Her overall time for all events was 13:18:32, and her overall placing was 1122.

She endorses 'DEP' hair and skin products, EZ1 (Electric Car Company) and is the spokesperson for 'Bally's Total Fitness.' The commercials for 'Bally's' look great! She is also one of the running and celebrity team members that has created the 'Rock 'N' Roll Marathon' (along with Frank Marshall, Steve Scott, Uta Pippig and Frank Shorter). The annual marathon's first contest will be held June 21, 1998, in San Diego, California.
