David Franck Charvet was born in Lyon, France, but moved to the United States at the age of nine when he and his family settled in New York in 1982. The family made the move to Los Angeles in 1982. As an athletic child, David loved and excelled in sports. He also had a love for drama. Moving toward show business, David signed with the prestigious 'Elite Model Management.' By the time David was 18 years old he had landed national print campaign ads for 'Bugle Boy' casual wear, 'Levi's,' 'Miller's Outpost,' and 'Coca-Cola.'

His acting credits include the 1996 made for TV movie 'Angel Flight Down,' 'Derby' (1995), and 'Seduced and 'Betrayed' (1995). His most recent role on a TV series was 'Melrose Place' (FOX/1996-1998), the night soap, where he portrayed Craig Field, the son of a very prominent businessman.

David currently lives in Los Angeles when he's acting, but goes to Paris, France during his hiatus where he is a popular recording star and the girls love him.

David joined the 'Baywatch' in the show's 3rd season as the French born teenaged Lifeguard Mathew Brody, and stayed with the role for three seasons. As a regular cast member, David gained and enjoyed international stardom. He chose not to sign on for a fourth season and made two guest appearances in the 6th season to phase his character Matt off the show. His negative interviews with the press about the show revealed that he did not only want to be known as an actor for his red shorts and that 'Baywatch' was not enough of a challenging role for him. He was beating his head against the wall of his trailer when he was on the set.

The positive is that David has never used drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes. He gives motivational talks to kids about how they can stay away from addictive substances and how to deal with family addicts. He is active in the 'Pediatric AIDS Foundation.'
