Pamela Denise Anderson was born on Vancouver Island, Canada. She was
raised in a small town in British Columbia and later moved to the
city of Vancouver.
Pamela was discovered in an unusual way-while attending a British Columbia Lions football game. The cameraman focused in on her. She was dressed
in a Labatt's Beer T-shirt and her image was transmitted on the stadium's
mega-screen for everyone to see. The fans cheered and she was brought
down to the 50-yard line and was introduced to the crowd.
Later, she signed a commercial contract with Labatt's and became the
company's 'Blue Zone Girl.' The campaign was so popular and successful
that other commercials and advertising projects for Pamela soon followed.
This attention resulted in her being approached to do her first cover for
'Playboy' magazine. Her career was launched. Also early in her career, she modeled and did so for the 'Fredericks of Hollywood' catalog. She found
that she was more popular with breast enhancement surgery.
Pamela moved to Los Angeles where she spent two seasons as Lisa,
'the tool time girl' on the popular ABC sitcom 'Home Improvement'
(Tim Allen). The role made her very popular nationwide. At the same
time Pamela was cast in the role of Lifeguard C.J. Parker on the syndicated 'Baywatch.' She joined the show in its 3rd season/1992-1993. Because
of the impossible schedule of working on two hit shows, she had to make a decision to leave 'Home Improvement' and work full-time on 'Baywatch.'
'Baywatch' expanded her popularity by making her an international star
as the show is one of the most phenomenally popular television programs
of all time, which is seen in 140 countries worldwide.
In the show's 6th season, Pamela made the transition into feature films.
She starred in Dark Horse Entertainment's action comedy action film,
'Barb Wire' (Gramercy Films) in 1996. It didn't do well at the box office.
Her other credits include TV movies 'Deader than Ever' (CBS), an updated
Mike Hammer mystery co-starring Rob Estes. 'The Evolution of Mr. E.,'
where she portrayed a quirky sculptor/artist. Her TV appearances include 'Married with Children' (FOX), 'The Nanny' (CBS), The talk show 'VIBE' in
1997 while 8 months pregnant with her second child (UPN), with talk show
host Sinbad, and 'Keenen Ivory Wayans' (FOX).
She appeared on the 'Playboy' cover five times, more than any other woman. Pamela always wanted
to be a wife and Mother. This was her main goal in life. She dated
bachelors including handsome Dean Cain (Superman/ABC), Sylvester
Stallone, and Scott Baio (Happy Days/ABC). Tattooed Montley Crue
band member Tommy Lee, who was wisely dumped and divorced by Heather Locklear (Melrose Place FOX), Dynasty (ABC), T.J. Hooker (ABC), pursued Pamela. She shocked everyone by marrying him after a four-day courtship.
In the beginning, Pamela was repulsed by Tommy Lee (she should have
kept that mentality). He bothered her by calling her 40 times a day. She
'fell in love' with him after he followed her down to Cancun. The couple
was married on the beach. The tattooed Tommy Lee wore swimming trunks
and Pamela wore a white thong bikini.
Pamela's woes began. They have been tabloid fodder since the day
they married, mostly due to husband Tommy Lee's violent behavior by
attacking reporters, and arrest record.
Pamela gave birth to the couple's first child, a son, Brandon Thomas
on June 5, 1996. At three months tiny Brandon landed his first TV
appearance on 'Baywatch' as an abandoned baby. He had a pretty hefty
price tag of $60,000! During this time, rumors circulated that Tommy Lee
was extremely controlling and physically abusive. He kept Pamela in her
trailer during the filming of 'Barb Wire' to have sex, holding up production.
She admitted to the sex, but not to the fact that he held up production.
In the beginning, Pamela denied his being controlling in abusive, but
after he hit her, it was no surprise when she filed for divorce just shy of
their two-year anniversary. She was going to have her name changed
back to Anderson, and was seeking the producers of 'Baywatch' to do
the same thing for her TV credit.
Tommy Lee whined and begged Pamela to take him back. Pamela forgave
and he got another chance. He publicly blamed his problems on alcohol
(please, please, give us all a break!) and went to rehab. However, his
little act to keep her 'couldn't hold water.' With problems with her husband
and lawsuits, she decided to leave 'Baywatch.' She didn't give the
executive producers any notice that she was going to leave so that they
could work out a proper script to explain C.J.'s departure.
In the 8th season, Her character's boyfriend Cody Madison (David Chokachi)
was paired with Rookie Lani McKenzie (Carmen Electra who left after the 8th season to pursue a WB sitcom). To explain her leaving 'Baywatch,' Cody
said that she went on vacation in Mexico, met a rock star and got married.
It wasn't a good departure line for someone who was in her role for
5 years, but her character was alive and wasn't injured. It still leaves the
door open to come back for any future quest appearances or a reunion
show or future 'Baywatch' movie if something can be worked out with the executive producers.
Pamela soon was expecting her second child. Pamela became a producer
and learned the business from the ground up by doing all of the jobs.
While she was 8 months pregnant and looking terrific, Pamela said to
talk show host Sinbad on 'VIBE' that she had learned a lot from
David Hasselhoff while she was on 'Baywatch.' She explained how hard
he was worked in all phases of the business to make it successful.
Pamela gave birth to her second child another son, Dylan Jagger on
December 29, 1997. Three months after giving birth, her husband
Tommy Lee attacked her after the couple had an argument. He was
arrested. Pamela had bruises on her wrist and had blood on her hand
(police officer said that the blood was from a broken fingernail, thank
goodness). She also had serious red bruises on her back. She refused
medical treatment. Pamela got an emergency restraining order and has
said that if her husband got out of jail he would have to find another
place to stay. Tommy Lee's bail was very high because of a violation
from a previous charge. This time she could not deny his being abusive
to her or the children. She wisely filed for divorce two days after the
incident. Pamela asked the court to change her name back to Anderson
and for custody of their two children. Now that she has gotten rid of
her main problem, she can now concentrate on taking care of her two
children and a less troublesome career.
